------- DeepSec 2023 "Do AIs Dream of Voight-Kampff Tests?" ----- Meet the experts and discuss high quality content! --- Call for Papers is open! Spread the news, DeepSec 2023 has opened the Call for Papers. The CfP includes submission for the DeepINTEL 2023 Security Intelligence Conference. This year's focus will be the wonderful world of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and related algorithms. The GPT language models have gained notoriety in the media. All the shiny algorithms still lack cognitive skills, but they are decent simulations of communication. Big companies rush to add dumb conversation simulators to their products. What does this mean from the information security perspective? If you have found weaknesses in chat simulators or AI/ML filters, please let us know. --- Speakers we are looking for We are looking for speakers from all special fields. Information security can only work if everyone works together. Your contribution counts. Please don't be intimidated by the terms "experts" and "in-depth" we use for describing DeepSec events. In case you are new to presenting at a conference, just let us know (even anonymously if you like). We offer support in various ways (such as scholarship, help with traveling to our conference, advice for presenting, connections to hacker/researcher communities, etc.). In addition we consider your submissions and requests confidential. If you have doubts or questions, please let us know. Information security is always a team effort. We actively ask speakers from a diverse background for content. If you know people who might contribute, let them know, and point them into our direction. --- Content we are looking for You can submit content for five categories: - Talks for the conference (45 minute slots) - Talks/workshops for the DeepSec scientific track - Two day workshops/trainings - U21 (a special category for young security researchers) - Scholarship presentations (a special category for researchers supported by our sponsors, see https://deepsec.net/acod.html for more details) Please submit all your ideas to our Call for Papers manager: https://deepsec.net/cfp.html Try to submit a complete set of information. Imagine everything you send to us is part of the DeepSec conference schedule. This saves a lot of questions and makes the reviews a lot easier. Just imagine announcing your presentation or training publicly. Say what you mean and what you can back. --- Selection of presentations / trainings / workshop All submitted content is reviewed by our programme committee consisting of information security professionals, researchers, members of the hacking community, and core members of the organisation team. --- Rules To make it short, talks should be up-to-date, of a high quality that matches our previous years and preferably exclusive (which of course is not a hard requirement but it will be one evaluation criterion). Topics from all security disciplines are welcome but we encourage you to submit talks about emerging technologies and concepts (presentations about 0days, i.e. 0talks, are welcome). Make sure that you can back every claim. If you can do this, we will back you, no questions asked. Talks must: - Stick to facts - Contain some aspects in detail (hence "in-depth" conference) - Have ties to information security – either directly or indirectly Talks must not: - Endorse products, vendors, or specific solutions - Discredit anyone or anything, let's be fair - Glorify "cyber", "cyberspace", "cyberwar", "cyber stuff"; if you use "cyber" as a term, then make sure you clearly define what you are talking about; otherwise it's all "cloud", "meta", and "virtual" to us Speaker privileges: - Free entrance to the conference and the symposium - Hotel accommodation for two nights (single/double room) - Travel expenses (up to a limit, you have to coordinate with us) - Invitation to our famous Speaker's Dinner with genuine Austrian food The workshops/trainings must be of highest quality and reasonably up-to-date. We had very good feedback for our workshops in the past and we want to keep it that way. Our audience has a very high level of technical understanding and is deeply involved with security management, implementation, operation and research. Workshops should not: - Cover too much (make sure your trainees don't need brain transplants); this does not mean that you have to stay shallow, just don't cram your training with too much content so that the trainees have time to breathe - Focus on specific vendors or products - Teach too much basic stuff (keep the level sufficiently high without losing your audience) Trainer privileges: - Free entrance to the conference - Invitation to our famous Speaker's Dinner with genuine Austrian food - 50% of the net profit of your class All CfP submissions must go through the form on our web site: https://deepsec.net/cfp.html Please make sure that you read https://blog.deepsec.net/?p=294 before submitting your ideas. Practice is never a bad thing. :) --- Keeping in Touch Please consider subscribing to our Call for Papers mailing list. It helps us to stay in touch with you, and it helps you to get updates on our events.
